At our church’s Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 28, 2007, it was unanimously decided to begin an ambitious new task to renovate our worship area in preparation for our 150th anniversary in 2008. This project will in no way take away from the beauty and historical significance of our church, but is to be a continuation of the work that was begun with the reconstruction of the vaulted ceiling and the chandelier. This project is being sent to done to address safety issues, handicap accessibility issues, and to refresh and enhance our worship area.
o The project will begin with the removal of the chimney and some walls between the music area and the sanctuary. This is being done to open up the altar area and to increase our seating capacity from 95 to 140.
o The second phase will be to make the sanctuary floor and the music area all one level. This will make the worship area entirely wheelchair accessible from the lift area.
o The third and most costly part of the renovation will be the purchase and installation of new pews and auxiliary seating.
It is anticipated that construction will begin in the spring and will be completed with the installation of the new pews in the fall of this year. This renovation project is a show of faith in our future. We will be having different fundraisers throughout the summer to help pay for this wonderful project.
